There’s a battle going on. A fierce battle for our loved ones. The enemy’s attacks wear people down. His attacks discourage people and lead them to sadness, anxiety, depression, anger, chaos and turmoil, and myriad of other things. The time has come to stop letting him wear us down. The time has come to stop letting him weaken us. The time has come to stop letting our enemy win. We need to rise up, stand firm, and fight. We have a Great Commander who knows the exact battle plan. Let’s join forces and fight for our loved ones. But let’s make sure we’re in the right army.
A surge of energy went through me earlier this evening when I learned of a family concern. This surge, I now recognize as Godly anger. Not anger against people, but anger against our enemy, the devil. I am so sick and tired of him attacking loved ones to the point of them being crushed, confused, and failing. I’m tired of His lies. I’m tired of His attacks. I’m tired of our enemy winning. We don’t have to let him win.
Friends, we have a Great Commander whose battle it is, and He lets us fight with Him.
Jesus is The Great Commander.
When you entered the Kingdom of Jesus Christ and became His child, you also became a soldier. I don’t care if you are a man or a woman. We’re all soldiers in Christ’s army.
Now is a good time to understand, we are under attack! Every. Single. Day. The devil doesn’t rest. He fights. Every. Single. Day.
We need to start acting like we’re soldiers and get trained how to fight by our Great Commander.
If we’re not fighting against our enemy, we’re losing to our enemy.
If you have fallen to the enemy’s lies and believe you have nothing to fight with, you’re wrong. Our Great Commander equips us as His soldiers:
“For You equipped me with strength for the battle; You made those who rise against me sink under me” (Psalm 18:39).
Our Great Commander doesn’t just equip us, He also instructs us. He tells us exactly how to fight. Put on the full armor (Ephesians 6:10-20).
Friends, in our comfy culture, we don’t think about armor. We put on our jeans, t-shirts, and fun shoes. We put more effort into our twenty-first century clothes than we do strapping on our Godly armor.
The fire is ignited in me tonight. I couldn’t be angrier with our enemy. I’m tired of him winning. No more!
I am a soldier of the Most High King. You are soldiers too.
We have The Greatest Commander ever!
He goes to battle for us. He wants us to join Him.
“Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 2:3).
Did you know the devil fights in very strategic ways? While he attacks in some catastrophic ways, he’s also strategic in pitting God’s children against each other. It’s one of his very favorite and most used strategies.
If you’re a child of God and you’re fighting against your fellow brother or sister in Christ, that’s like you fighting a soldier who’s in your own troop. Friends, I’m quite serious. Stop fighting one another.
We need to stand together as one troop of Christ’s army. We need to start fighting against the real enemy.
It’s time we put on God’s armor. Every. Single. Day.
It’s time we take the sword in our hands, which is the Word of God. Start praying with fierceness. It’s time we scare the devil. It’s time we join forces and release the heavenly armies to go to battle.
During Advent season may seem like an unusual time to talk about being a soldier, but in my experience, this is a perfect time for our enemy to attack us.
Stand firm. Put on the full armor of God. Listen to our Great Commander. Pray. Surrender to God only. Never to our enemy.
This Advent season may we stand firm. Take up our sword. Pray. Release God’s heavenly army to fight the battle. Our loved ones deserve our faithfulness to our Great Commander.
