We serve the Unique One who is God Himself. His name is Jesus. He came to bring light into our world. He came to destroy darkness. As a child of God, we each have His light inside of us. As we live our day, we, too, shine light into this dark world.
I’ve learned that Jesus wants us to join Him in His mission. He wants us to shine brightness into someone’s life. That we each do this matters. Each one of us has been given certain people that we are around each and every day. These are the people we are to shine light in and around. Sometimes these people are really easy to show the Light of Jesus. Others not so much. They are the difficult ones in our lives. They challenge us and sometimes try to extinguish our light. Don’t let them. Rather choose to keep your light shining.
How you ask? The ways are unlimited. Be kind with your words, with your tone. Offer to help, rather than ignore. Set aside your own tasks for a few minutes to listen, truly listen, to someone. Hear their heart. Hear their concern. Listen to their story. Let them be themselves. Don’t put unreasonable expectations on these people in your life. Notice someone. Smile. Say “Hello!” Take time to hug someone in your family. Pray for someone who is challenging to you.
Shine Jesus’ Light into the world of those you are personally around today. It will be like turning on the light in a dark room. Let’s choose to serve the Unique One by serving others and shining His Light into their lives.
Scripture:
John 1:17-18 – “God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.
