Winter left us this year with a punch. Two feet of snow in the middle of April. As the spring flowers were supposed to be budding, snowflakes piled up preventing them from bursting forth. Fast forward six weeks. Summer squeezed Spring out in a hurry with soaring temperatures this past weekend in the high 90’s. Actually, I think we hit 100 degrees yesterday in the Twin Cities. Poor Spring. Barely had a chance to show us her glory.
I love living where we actually get to experience the four seasons. Each one is unique and different and glorious. Each season has a purpose. Each season provides us new experiences and sensations and opportunities…if we embrace them.
We could be angry with both Winter and Summer for imposing on Spring’s time, or we could embrace them and decide to enjoy the experience of both the power of two feet of snow in a weekend and the intensity of high temperatures in a weekend.
The amazing thing is winter lasted longer than normal and left us with a snowstorm of a lifetime to remember. Summer showed up with a high-power punch of its own. Triple digit temperatures will be remembered this Memorial weekend for sure.
Spring? Yes, I will remember her short season sandwiched between these two power-horse seasons’ ending and beginning. The smell of lilacs blooming, the sound birds singing, the feel of the warming sun, and the sight of earth exploding with green! Spring showed up this year, albeit a short season, but with a significant purpose. Spring reminded me to be appreciative of smells, sounds, feelings, and sights that are from God Himself.
The ending of winter and beginning of summer has reminded me of God’s mighty power. He’s intense. He’s full of surprises. He’s more glorious than the hottest day, the deepest snow, or the sweetest scent of lilacs.
This year, I’ve decided to embrace the season I’m in. No matter how long or short or how easy or difficult each season is. I’m embracing the season I’m in. I hope you’ll join me and embrace whatever season you’re in for its unique and different purpose for your life.
Scripture:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 – There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.

Awesome Jungmin! Let’s do it! Every day I wake up and before my feet hit the floor, I say, “The joy of the Lord is my strength!” No matter what happens after my feet hit the floor, I know I’ll have strength to embrace the day. I’ll be able to embrace each day of each season. No matter what! Our Lord is amazingly mighty! Let’s embrace whatever season we’re in! Praise Jesus!
