Do you ever get tired? Does life sometimes exhaust you? Do you ever get frustrated and discouraged? Me too. This happened to me this weekend. Want to know what I did to overcome? Keep reading.
True Story Ahead
Here’s some truth: while I may have the talent of Positivity, I also experience pain. We live in a world of discomfort, discouragement, and difficulty. We have a real enemy, and I was reminded of that fact bright and early this morning as I pulled myself out of bed still feeling drugged by disappointment and discouragement.
You see Saturday night and again Sunday morning, my husband and I argued about some things that are difficult for us as a couple. Now the Bible tells us not to argue (2 Timothy 2:23-25), but we are human. We argue sometimes. Not proud of this fact, but truth is truth.
Sometimes the frustration of human relationships wears me out. I’m certain it wears others out too. Relationships can become barriers in our life if we let them.
Yesterday I knew I needed to practice self-care or I wouldn’t be able to care about my husband. I knew I needed to rest, which I did. According to my Fitbit, I took a nap for 2 hours and 41 minutes. Then I watched two inspirational movies based on true stories because I needed some encouragement. I cried. I talked to Jesus. I even wrote something that maybe one day I’ll share. Then I went to bed.
When life’s barriers enter our life, here is what we are instructed to also do: esteem, exalt, and embrace Jesus.
This morning, once again, I listened to Matt Redman’s song, “Blessed Be Your Name.” This song helps me exalt my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My heart remembers who He is. In the good and the bad times, blessed be His name.
What I know is, it doesn’t matter if I’m going through a difficult time, Jesus still needs to be exalted. I still need to esteem Him. When I embrace Jesus, my heart remembers I’m okay no matter what. I’m okay. Jesus is still King. I’m still His child. I’m okay.
So are you. No matter what barrier you face, what road seems closed, what difficulty you face, Jesus is still King. Let’s esteem, exalt, and embrace the One who can set a garland of grace on our heads.
May Jesus be glorified today. May we each remember we are human. Let’s be wise. Practice self-care. Recognize we have limits. And remember Jesus is holy. Let’s exalt Him. Esteem Him, and embrace Him. May our hearts’ burdens be lighter because we choose to rest in Him.
Scripture:
Proverbs 4:7-8 – Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor.
Psalm 99:5 – Exalt the Lord our God and worship at His footstool; He is holy.
