Daily I seek God Himself. He’s the One who guides me. Every. Single. Day. My heart this morning is overwhelmed with gratitude. I’ve been sitting in my writing room asking, “What do my readers need to hear today?” The answer? Dare to step out in faith.
My hope is that what has inspired me this morning will inspire you also. I believe with my whole heart God promises us many things. I believe God wants us to dare to step out in faith to receive His promises.
Faith to me is believing without seeing.
It’s like air, that invisible, tasteless, odorless gas that surrounds the earth.
I don’t see air, but I know it’s there.
This is what I believe about God’s promises too.
I don’t see God’s promises when they haven’t been fulfilled yet, but I know He’s good on His word. He can be trusted. What He promises will happen.
If the air is there, then God’s promises are there too.
True Story Ahead
God reminds me we don’t need to be afraid. In fact, He reminded me this morning I’m not that scared little girl any more. I’ve come to trust God. This has been a long journey, but I trust Him. I choose to believe His promises.
I’ve personally stepped out in faith many times, like stepping out into thin air, trusting there will be a firm foundation when my foot sets down.
This past weekend, I took one of those steps of faith again. I attended the Northwestern Christian Writers Conference. I registered for a 1:1 meeting with an executive editor to pitch my book idea again. You see, I did this last year too.
One of the desired outcomes from these 1:1 meetings is to receive a business card. If you receive a business card, WOW! You’ve captured the attention and interest of someone who can help move your book idea forward. Of course, this doesn’t mean it will happen, but it does mean you may contact this person for further discussion and hopefully land a book contract.
Last year I did not receive a business card.
Many times over the last year, I’ve been reminded of how Abraham and Sarah waited and waited for their promise of having their very own baby come to fruition. They were pretty old to start a family. But “after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.”
Like Abraham, I believe in God’s promises.
I firmly believe God has assigned me to write this particular book. This book has been something developing for a dozen years. It’s what I’ve personally lived and what God has personally revealed to me through His Word.
I won’t stop believing God’s promise to me. He doesn’t call us to something without providing. We do have to our part. I’ve been working hard to develop my craft and my idea. I’ve been developing who I am. I do not take this journey lightly. I’m a firm believer in continual learning and development.
This year…
I was given a business card!!!
YES!
And yes I will use exclamation points because I’m that person, and I’m not ashamed to be that person!!!
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
God has given us air to breathe. We know it’s there. God has given us His promises too.
Dare to believe He will follow through on His promises. Dare to believe even when you don’t see evidence of God’s promises happening. They will happen.
I know I am. I will continue to keep on believing God’s promises to me all the way to fruition of this book He’s assigned me to write. No. Matter. What.
Today, let’s dare to step out in faith.
Scripture:
Hebrews 6:15 – And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
Deanna Constans says
