My heart is happy this morning. There’s a part of me that wishes I could be in the ocean like the girl in the image. I’d love to run and kick the water high in celebration of who Jesus is. There is nothing my heart desires more than to worship Him. There’s nothing more important than rejoicing in the glory of the Lord. No matter what may be happening in our lives, we have every reason to rejoice. Come along with me today as I share a true story about water.
True Story Ahead
We have water damage in our house. This week alone, we have replaced the toilet and the sink faucet in our downstairs bathroom. Last night a contractor came out to investigate if our water damage was just from the leaking toilet.
Nope!
Looks a little more serious than that. We had to pull back carpet from the bedroom next to the bathroom. Our carpet is absorbing water most likely leaking from the shower. This could be quite expensive to fix.
While fans blow to help dry out the drywall, which isn’t dry any more, the irony of “drywall,” and the carpet is pulled back, and yes it will need to come out completely and be replaced, this morning I have complete peace and joy in my heart.
Why?
Because I just absorbed Jesus!
Like my carpet absorbed the water from a leaking pipe, it just soaked it up, my heart does the same with Jesus. I lay myself at His feet, glued to His Word, and I absorb Him.
He in turn, fills me up deep in my soul. He reminds me all is well. There is nothing more important than experiencing this truth. Jesus is real. Jesus is alive. Jesus loves me. Jesus died for me. He is my helper. He is my provider. I serve and worship an amazing God.
Jesus is the living water.
We can absorb this water and it does not damage. Rather, the living water of Jesus Christ cleanses and restores us.
Friends, while I could be distraught over the immensity of the water damage in my bathroom and bedroom, I’m not.
I know the power of water. It can damage, but it can also restore and give us life.
Today, I praise Jesus for water. I praise Jesus for being Jesus. I praise Jesus because He is life.
No matter what is going on in our lives, may we glorify Jesus. May we worship and adore Him. May we absorb Him Every. Single. Day.
And may the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in Jesus’ sight, our Lord, our strength and our redeemer. Amen!
Scripture:
John 7:38 – Jesus says, “The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”
Psalm 19:14 – Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Michelle,
How lovely to run into you at the GLS this week. Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog this spring. I’ve fallen out of the blogging world until now but have missed it. Grief is a wierd thing, huh?
I’m so sorry for your wet and leaking shower! Aiye! May they be able to fix it without it being too complicated.
How are you? What are you reading and thinking about? How are your kids and grandkids?
Happy summer,
Jennifer Dougan

Hi Jennifer! It was so wonderful to see you at GLS. First of all, wasn’t that great? I still have so much to ponder from all the inspirational speakers. We’re still working on diagnosing where the water leak is coming from, but we’re almost sure it’s from the shower drain, which could be quite a messy fix. We should get together. I know people say that, but we need to have coffee together. I’ll send you an email. Thanks for commenting. Oh, to answer your question about what I’m reading, so many books have piled up that I want to read and I’m working on many, one in particular is Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most. I was so excited to hear Sheila Heen speak at GLS. I’m reading the book she and two others wrote. So good!
