I’ve been encouraged three times this week from three different sources to do two things. Now, I’ve said this before, but it’s worth saying again. When God wants to get my attention, He presents it to me three times from three different sources, and usually in a very short timeframe. This week, I heard a particular message from a podcast sermon and two different books. All three sources were different people who do not know each other. (At least I don’t think they know each other.) Yet, I received the same message.
True Story Ahead
I’ve listened to 40 books on Amazon Audible since I became a member about three years ago. Some of these books I’ve listened to multiple times too. I first started listening to books because my Mom was a teacher and life-long learner. She always encouraged all her students to use as many senses as possible to help comprehend new material. My primary learning style is visual. I’ve been an avid reader most of my life. I’m constantly wanting to learn and develop myself in many ways. Reading books is one of the ways I accomplish this.
I know I say I’m 25, but let’s be realistic here, I’m not. As I’ve aged, I’ve started noticing I need help remembering new material to better understand and comprehend. Therefore, I thought I’d apply my Mom’s advice and not just read books, but also listen to books.
Here’s what I’ve discovered. If a book really speaks to me, I buy the paper version too. This way I can visually read it for a deeper comprehension. I do not do this with all books, just those books I believe can help me become a better me. These books are worth buying twice. The book I just finished yesterday is one of these books: Message Delivered Three Times
I bet you’re curious what God’s message to me was three times this week from three different sources. Am I right? Here it is. The message from all three sources and the same action step encouraged: Because of these amazing people who have given of themselves and poured into me, I’ve changed for the better. I started thanking these people. I have a lot of people who have poured into me, so I have a lot of thanking to do. Brian Dixon is one of those people. I sent him a personal message and then I wrote a review on Amazon. You know some of the people I’m going to thank I have personally never met. I’ve read a lot of books and listened to many sermons and other encouraging messages on podcasts and webinars. These people have poured themselves into their subject matter and that information has poured into me. They need to know the positive impact of their work. Now, I challenge you to do the same thing. Think about the people who have invested in your development and then thank them. It’s good to be back here, friends. I’ve missed regularly connecting with you this past year. Thank you for your patience as I’ve traveled, what I know now has been a wilderness journey. As we go forward, I long to share what I’ve learned that you may be encouraged and strengthened. I plan to post weekly. Still trying to figure out the best day of the week, but this week it’s today. To God be the glory!
