How strong is a flick of a finger? Depends on whose finger it is.
True Story Ahead
Something has been bogging me down for quite some time trying to prevent me from moving forward. However, in the last week it’s been pressing down hard on me so much that it’s causing me to be distracted and discouraged in life right now. Friends, I’ve been alert to the pressing down. I know what’s going on. It’s called opposition.
As children of God, we have one primary opposer. His name is Satan. He knows his purpose.
He comes to destroy us, lie to us, to cause confusion, distraction, disunity, and a whole bunch of other crap. Yes crap! I’m so sick of his tactics and his success. I’m so sick of him getting in my way trying to block me from doing my purpose. I’m so sick of him causing disruption in my life. I am a servant of the Lord Jesus, and I have things to do for Him. Praise God we have strategies too. I’m going to tell you about one that works every. single. time.
Perfect Strategy for Fighting Our Enemy
Have you ever had to physically push something really heavy from one spot to another spot to move it out of your way so that you can gain access to the spot it consumed?
I’ve pushed so many boxes, beds, and big bulky pieces of furniture in my life trying to move them. It can take several attempts to move them by myself. But if the item needs to be moved, then I have to keep trying and not give up. Sometimes I’m successful all by myself. However, sometimes items are simply too heavy and too big for me to push and move by myself. That’s when I need to ask someone to help me.
I was reminded this morning in my alone time with Jesus that there really is something pressing against me that needs to be moved. It’s time to push hard to move my Opposer out of my way. But, I can’t move him by myself. I need Jesus’ help to move the Devil out of my way. He’s blocking me, trying to stop me from moving forward with what Jesus wants me to do for Him.
The Devil doesn’t fight fair and boy does he fight us. I am not afraid to stand up and fight him. Not anymore. I’ve fought many, many times. I fought today. We need to stand our ground. We need to fight. Never surrender to Satan. We need to stay alert, recognize his sneaky strategies that get us all rattled, distracted, and discouraged.
Standing our ground to fight our Opposer has to include calling out to Jesus, who is more powerful than Satan. Always call out to Jesus. What’s hard for us to do is easy for Jesus. Guess what? Satan cannot stay present when Jesus is present. The Bible says that Jesus name alone is enough to make our Opposer leave.
Today, I asked for Jesus’ help because I realized I’m not strong enough to move my Opposer by myself. Jesus is so strong that moving our Opposer out of the way is like flicking a finger for Jesus.
Friends, numerous times this morning I called out loud to Jesus to help me move my Opposer. Jesus took His finger and flicked him away. Then He reminded me again of the truth. I am a child of God. I am helped by Jesus. I am not condemned by God. I am God’s coworker and we have work to do. Now that Jesus flicked away my Opposer, I can concentrate again on my assignment.
Is the Opposer pressing down on you too, blocking you, confusing you, distracting you, causing disunity? If so, it’s time to ask Jesus to flick His finger and send Satan flying away. All you need is to ask and say the most powerful name of all: Jesus!

Hi Sherrill! I’m so glad this encouraged you. I’ve been beat down so many times by the Devil, but I keep standing back up. Now, I’m quicker to dodge his swings and I’m faster to call Jesus for help! It’s a daily battle when we are living for Jesus!
Stay strong, my friend. Stand firm. Jesus is right here with us!
Love and joy to you,
Michelle
Wonderful message, Michelle! My takeaway is to refuse to let Satan erode your confidence.
Love, love, love your positive and REAL reminders in your blog.
Shaune, I agree wholeheartedly with you! We can’t let Satan erode our confidence. Stand firm, my friend. We are God’s children!!
By the way, I sure miss you!
“He is who within ‘us’ is greater than he who is in the world.” (I John 4:4) I remind myself of this often.
Thanks Michelle.
Yes and Amen, Julie! I do too. Some seasons of life it seems I need this truth daily spoken and declared over and over. We are not fighting against flesh and blood, we are at war with a powerful Enemy. But we have Jesus who is all-powerful. Praise Jesus we have Him to fight for us and with us. And I love that He teaches us how to fight too. We have been given mighty weapons and a Great Warrior Commander: Jesus Himself. May we always remember that He who is within us is greater than he who is in the world.
