Good morning, Friends!
This morning I spent some time reading Isaiah 41. I’ve read this chapter a few times in my life. It’s filled with lots of annotations and dates. Key verses pop off the pages of my worn Bible. One in particular pierced my heart again. Verse 21 begins with three words, “Present your case.”
I have a date from three years ago next to this verse. And now today I have today’s date penned in my Bible next to these words. Why do you suppose these three words spoke to me today?
The LORD is directing me, challenging me to present my case to Him. I’ve had a lot on my mind in 2020, especially in the last month. Truthfully, it has nothing to do with COVID-19. It has everything to do with my life, my own personal life.
This morning, as I journaled, I questioned God. What is my purpose? What do You, Lord, want me to do for You? I started asking Jesus all sorts of questions because He is the Helper of Michelle.
He actually encouraged me to present my case to Him. He’s an amazing Coach. Best coaches ask a lot of questions. I’ve been learning just how important asking questions is for those who are seeking answers. As a coach, I don’t have all the answers. I help people discover the answers by asking questions. This is taking me some time to master, but I keep practicing.
This morning, I asked my Coach a lot of questions back. See? I must be getting better. I’ve studied Jesus awhile now and if you haven’t noticed this before, you need to notice it. Most of the time when people asked Jesus a question, He answered by asking a question back to them. Now that’s strategic! Getting people to dig deeper into their own lives and encourage them to seek the answer is a key skill for any coach. Jesus and some pretty other amazing coaches have been teaching me this strategy.
Many of us are homebound now because of COVID-19.
Frederick Buechner said, “Listen to your life. All moments are key moments.”
Right now is a key moment in your life. Listen to your heart. Listen to what Jesus is speaking to you. What question(s) is He asking you?
Today, He asked me to present my case to Him. I did. And now, I’m asking you the same questions I asked myself this morning and the same questions I asked Jesus about my life.
May these moments right now be key moments in your life. May we use this time to reflect.
Here are some questions I asked Jesus this morning about myself. Now I ask you:
What are the things that God has called you to do for Him? Are you using your gifts and talents the way God intended you to use them? Are you using them at all? Are you striving to become more of who God created you to become or have you gotten complacent? Are you just going with the flow, not being intentional about how you spend your life? Are you pursuing what deep inside your heart and soul you know you should be pursuing? Are you taking even one step to pursue your dreams? What are your dreams? Have you forgotten your dreams? Are you letting others dictate who you are or are you stepping up and being who God created you to be? Are you intentionally working toward your purpose? If not, why?
Present your case to the LORD. Ask Him questions. Seek your answers. Listen to your life. Listen to your coach. We each only have one life to live. How are we choosing to live it?
