I’ve been thinking about heaven. How wonderful it will be. Reading the Bible has me thinking just how glorious heaven is going to be. Do you ever think about heaven? Well, today you get to because I decided to share some of the things I’ve not just been thinking about, but things I’ve been reading about heaven.
I’ve been making my way through the book of Isaiah, and often there are cross references to the book of Revelations. Have you read Isaiah 25 and Revelations 21? Whoa! I’ve read it before, but something sparked a fire in me this time. I’m excited about heaven.

To live in light all the time. No darkness ever. No night. That means no June bugs flying around your front porch light at night, no mosquitos, no bats, no creepy crawling things that only come out in the dark of night. There will be no night. Only light all the time.

Heaven has walls. The walls’ material is not drywall, but jewels. I can barely decorate my walls with two coats of paint, and Jesus is building heaven’s walls with twelve foundations of different jewels! Jewels we’ve never seen before with colors we’ve never seen before.

I hear heaven’s doors are made of pearls. Well, actually heaven’s gates are, all twelve of them. Each gate is one single pearl. Imagine how big that oyster is! And I thought delivering an 8 lb. 9 oz baby hurt. Okay, maybe Jesus doesn’t need an oyster to make pearls in heaven. But still, can you imagine how those pearls shimmer?

The great street of the city is made of up something like gold, that’s clear and transparent. Not dirt, not tar, and not cement like our roads here. I bet there won’t be any potholes in heaven’s streets either.
Can you imagine walking on a street of clear gold? If that’s what Main Street looks like in heaven, imagine what our houses will be like.
Do you ever think about heaven?
There will be no more tears, but there will be collected tears from our time here. I’m pretty sure by the time I get to heaven, Jesus will have collected a few hot tubs full of my tears.
So, party at my house when we’re all there. Just sayin. Jesus okayed it because He made it. He collected my tears. You’re welcome for all the tears I’ve shed in my life.
Do you ever think about heaven?
Nothing impure will ever enter heaven. Can you imagine living where only holiness and purity are present? No sin, no shame, no humiliation, no bullying, no negativity, no pain, no deceit.
Nope. Not in heaven. Heaven is full of joy, laughter, fun, and all kinds of awesome people who love Jesus. We are going to have one rockin family who lives in the greatest place there ever will be. EVER!
Do you ever think about heaven?
People. People will be there. My people. I can hardly wait to talk with forever friends and family. We’re going to talk, laugh, and work together. We’ll explore heaven together, party together, and embrace one another.
We will love. Like really love one another.
No more family and friend feuds. Nope. We’re going to like each other. Every. Single. One. How cool is that?

We’re going to eat. Jesus is going to feed us some fine meat and wine. I’m not making this up, friends. Jesus is busy preparing the best meal we’ve ever eaten. It’s going to be better than any pampered cow we’ve consumed or fileted fish we’ve ever seasoned.
You like veggies? I bet Jesus will have some and chocolate. Lots of chocolate.
The wine. Okay, I’ve tasted some good wine in this world, but never the best of the best. If you prefer beer, my guess is Jesus is busy growing barley and rye right now and fermenting some stouts.
Do you ever think about heaven?
We will get to see angels for real. I can hardly wait to meet my two big angels. Okay, I know, maybe they’re not exactly what I imagine. But I’ve named them, and I expect to meet them.
We’ll have some great laughs how I kept them busy fighting for me. (I think they like fighting for me.)
I expect to see a few battle wounds too. We’ll probably compare our wounds and our swords and our uniforms. Maybe my warrior uniform will look similar to theirs. Yes, I do consider myself a warrior, a princess warrior.

The greatest thing about heaven will be finally seeing Jesus in person, face-to-face, no mask required. After all the years here waiting to see Him, when we get to heaven, we will see Him. All of Him.
We’ll get to touch Him too. I’m a hugger. After I’ve probably fall down and fainted from His glory, I expect, He’ll help me up and we’ll hug.
A real live hug from my God, my Savior, My Lord. The One who died for me. I imagine I won’t let go, so He might have to pry my hands from around His neck.
I wonder sometimes how many of us will greet Jesus like a little child excitedly greets their loving mom and dad. I’m raising my hand right now. Me!

What a glorious life that will be. We’ll discover all the trials, all the pains, all the hurts, all the fight will be worth it and more. So don’t give up on what Jesus is wanting you to do for Him here.
In the end, each one of us whose name is written in the Lamb’s book of life will be welcomed into our forever home: Heaven!

Oh thank you, Colleen! It blesses me deeply that my words bless you. I’m glad God has me back writing too. 🙂
And maybe we will be neighbors again when we are in heaven. Wouldn’t that be cool? You can come on over for my hot tub party for sure.
with joy,

Sweet, sweet reminders of what the Bible tells us about heaven! Images that warm my heart rememberIng all the generations of believers who have gone before us that are currently celebrating with Jesus and enjoying the blessings of heaven. May we press on to run the race God has for us here until He calls us to join Him too in His glorious home in heaven!
Yes and Amen, Carol! What a joy it will be to celebrate all together in heaven getting to see Jesus face to face. I’m looking forward to seeing so many amazing people too. It’s going to be more than we can imagine. 🙂
with joy,
Michelle
Michelle, a beautiful & heartfelt message. I am looking forward to meeting Jesus face to face 🙂 and seeing the people I’ve loved and lost too early.
Emily, same with me. I miss my Mom, Dad, and sister Becky. It’s going to be a huge celebration to see them.
