Day 3 of 21-Day Sugar Fast
Do you desire healing from something? On Day 3 of my 21-Day Sugar Fast, the Lord focused on healing. Not just for myself, but for others too. Alisa Keeton, founder of Revelation Wellness, says, “Things won’t be healed if they aren’t revealed.” When we fast with a humble heart and pray sincerely seeking Jesus, He hears us and leads us. I’m letting Jesus lead, and He’s leading me to pray for healing.
The Lord has been busy revealing sickness, struggles, and stresses during my sugar fast.
The evening of Day 2, God revealed that my soon-to-be five-year old grandson came down with the stomach flu. Poor little dude had things pouring out of him for hours.
That same day on a walk with a friend, I learned another friend started radiation this week for breast cancer.
First thing the morning of Day 3, I heard that a friend of my oldest daughter was having a bad reaction to a second Covid shot and ended up going to the ER overnight.
Still another individual struggled with anxiety.
- Stomach flu
- Breast cancer treatment
- Bad reaction to second Covid shot
- Anxiety
All of these Jesus revealed to me and stirred within me to pray. “Pray for healing, Michelle.”
Ordinary or Extraordinary Healing?
“’I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV)
Whether you need physical healing, emotional healing, mental healing, spiritual healing, relational healing, wherever you need healing, Jesus is the One who heals and restores us.
I heard Susie Larson say on one of her recent podcasts that whether through ordinary or extraordinary means, Jesus heals.
Sometimes, I think we just want Him to heal and restore us miraculously, without us having to do anything. Without us having to wait. Jesus does do the miraculous, but He often leads us in the everyday ways of healing. That path generally takes longer, but on the journey, Jesus is intimately with us.
Take for example my grandson. Could Jesus have immediately and miraculously healed him as soon as we prayed? Yes, of course, He could have. Jesus did heal him, but He chose to do it the ordinary way: Time, purging, and rest.
Now, this ordinary journey of healing may seem cruel, but it got my whole family praying for James. We also prayed for my daughter-in-law, my son, and my six-month old granddaughter, James’ little sister. We prayed for quick healing, comfort, peace, sleep, and that no one else would get sick.
Because Jesus chose to heal James in the more conventional manner, this opened up the door for James’ family to join in unison praying for his health. We were filled with compassion for him. We checked on his status frequently. We gave comforting words to the whole family. We encouraged them.
And his mommy got to have special hugs and express tender-loving care to her little boy all night long. That wouldn’t have happened had he been healed immediately. Furthermore, his daddy loved on him and together as a family they showed Jesus’ love to James.
When Jesus leads us on an ordinary path of healing, we can be sure He has His reasons, and most likely many blessings along the way that would not happen if He just zapped us healed.
Path of Healing
So, don’t lose hope if your healing hasn’t come yet or if Jesus leads you to travel with Him on an ordinary journey instead of the extraordinary. There’s power in both journeys.
No matter what, Jesus intends to walk with us on the path of healing.
Let’s humble ourselves and see the ordinary journey of healing for the blessing it is. Jesus Himself, the One who heals and restores us, wants to intimately relate to us on this journey. Let’s try to see our path of healing as a blessing too, not just the destination.
Pray for Healing – Ask Me!
During this sugar fast, I want to invite you to reach out to me if you need prayer for healing. Any kind of healing. You can share what it is or you don’t have to. Jesus knows. But I know Jesus wants me praying for healing for others during this time. So please, if you want prayer for healing, ask me.
You can leave it in the comment or send me an email.
