Day 15 of 21-Day Sugar Fast
Another day begins. Today may we surrender, lift our hands, and worship Jesus. No matter what is going on in our lives, let’s worship our Savior King.
When we are feeling frayed like a rope breaking, let’s surrender, lift our hands, and worship Jesus. He hears His children’s praises. He sees our surrender. He will touch our raised hands.
When life is full of temptations to do things our way, let’s remember Jesus willingly entered a 40-day fast of wilderness and temptation. But He conquered temptation. Nothing the devil tempted Jesus with caused Him to surrender to the enemy.
When we are tempted, we too, can conquer and not surrender to the enemy who only wants to steal, kill, and destroy us.
Jesus wants us to surrender, lift our hands, and worship Him when we are being tempted, tested, and tried. He will lift the weight off of us, remove the temptation, and strengthen us.
The Weight of Burden
Feeling weighed down, burdened, and at a loss, I sat in my closet, turned on one of my favorite worship songs, and started lifting my hands, praising Jesus in my pain.
Praise rose. Tears flowed. Jesus arrived. He comforted me in my desert place. Within a few minutes the weight lifted from me. Peace Himself filled me.
Did my problem go away? No, but I knew Jesus had control. I could rest.
There comes a time where the weight of what we carry is too much for us to carry. We need to go to the One whose yoke is easy and Whose burden is light.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
We live in a world with many problems and while we each may have different issues we are dealing with, we each can be tempted to think we have to carry it alone. That’s a lie. Jesus’ desire for us is to seek Him, knock, ask, and receive.
He is willing, waiting, and ready to take our heavy burden and carry it for us. All we need to do is surrender, lift our hands, and worship Jesus.
Surrender, Lift Our Hands, and Worship Jesus
What is burdening you today? Surrender, lift your hands, and worship Jesus. We can praise Him when things are going well and not so well. We can draw near to Him. When we do, He draws near to us.
Let’s surrender, lift our hands, and worship Jesus today. He sees us. He knows what’s in our hearts, minds, and souls. He knows more than we do. He knows our circumstances. He knows how to strengthen and help us.
Blessed Be the Name of the Lord
So, when you feel frayed, stop what you are doing seek the Blessed One, surrender, lift your hands, and worship Jesus.
If you need some help getting into a posture of worship, listen to the song I listened to, “Blessed Be Your Name” by Matt Redman. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into worshipping your Savior King, the One who loves you so much, He died on the cross for you. He knows what temptation, pain, and burden is.
Blessed be Your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name
Every blessing You pour out
I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed by the name of the Lord
Blessed by Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s all as it should be
Blessed be Your nam
On this day, we can do three actions that will help us reconnect to Jesus. We can surrender, lift our hands, and worship Jesus. Our problems may not go away, but our burden will be lifted and peace will come.
