Day 19 of 21-Day Sugar Fast
Here I am on Day 19 of my second 21-Day Sugar Fast feeling grateful, the Lord is still leading me and I am still following. Where the Lord leads, I will follow. Will you?
This past summer the Lord and I went on a summer wellness journey together. This journey included 21-Days Walking Prayer, 21-Day Sugar Fast, The Wellness Revelation (8-week book to wellness by Alisa Keeton), and three months (92 days and over three hundred miles) of literal walking outside with Jesus.
My summer wellness journey also included physical therapy with Dr. Jay, eight weeks of mobility training with Dawn Siem, a movement and mobility and specialist, and twice each week with Dr. Zack Barringer for chiropractic adjustments, all at Woodbury Spine Wellness Center. During my wellness journey, the Lord revealed many areas in me that needed healing.
Then He led me to a functional medicine doctor (Dr. Jana Grimm), who after reviewing blood work and asking a lot of questions helped me discover that my gallbladder needed cleansing. So, my wellness journey included two gallbladder flushes.
Dr. Jana also noticed that while my blood work showed my thyroid numbers were within the guidelines, the number was on the low end. My thyroid needed some support.
Through adding additional supplements, changing my diet some, and continued help from educated and experienced medical professionals, my body slowly began healing.
Then, as you know, I had a setback. But nothing is forever, and after the setback, I got back up brushed myself off, and started again.
Where the Lord Leads, I will Follow
Here I am on Day 19 of my second 21-Day Sugar Fast feeling grateful, the Lord is still leading me and I am still following.
Where the Lord leads, I will follow. For me, the journey continues. My wellness journey is not over. Praying for healing during this sugar fast, not just for myself, but others, elevated the purpose of this fast. I’m not just doing a sugar fast to say I did another challenge. No, I’m doing this sugar fast to reconnect with Jesus and reset my body.
A pretty awesome thing is happening in this process. The Lord is reviving and restoring me. Where the Lord leads, I will follow. He’s leading me through a revival and restoration of my heart, soul, and mind too.
Slowing down long enough to breathe every morning, to settle in with Jesus Himself, and listen to Him is healing me. I know I’ve not arrived to my best self yet, but I’m at least on the road following Jesus in the right direction.
My prayers for healing during this 21-Day Sugar Fast have included many others. My prayer is that they each will choose to follow Jesus where He leads.
Where Is Jesus Leading You?
Where is Jesus leading you? Will you follow Him? If He leads you to a 21-Day Sugar Fast, will you follow Him? If He leads you to give up alcohol, will you listen and obey? If Jesus leads you to exercise more, will you follow Him? If He leads you to get counseling, give up a relationship, or change jobs, will you follow Him?
If Jesus leads you to get up early every day, open your Bible, and read it, will you follow Him?
Where the Lord leads, I will follow, even if it requires sacrifice on my part. Jesus never said following Him would be easy. But He did say blessings will come including healing. Healing comes in many ways when we follow His lead.
You know, when Jesus walked this earth, He healed people who went to Him and followed Him. (You can read all about it in Matthew.)
But Jesus didn’t heal anyone who didn’t go to Him. In fact, when He arrived in his own hometown, hardly anyone went to Him so, “he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief.” Mark 6:5 (ESV)
Jesus wants to heal us, but we need to go to Him. I’m not even just talking about physical healing. I’m talking about all kinds of healing. Why do we expect Jesus to heal us if we aren’t even willing first to go to Him and second, we don’t believe He can or will? And sadly, third, we don’t want to do what He asks us to do.

So, I ask you today, if you need healing, any kind of healing, will you go to Jesus? Do you believe He can heal you? If He leads you in a specific way for your healing, like He has me, will you follow Him?
There a song I’ve listened to many times: Invitacion Fountain by Vineyard Worship.
I encourage you today, to listen and let the words soak in. If they are true for you, sing them, claim them, and surrender to Jesus’ leadership in your life. Where the Lord leads, I will follow. Will you?
