Jesus is the Promise Keeper. This may seem like a Christianese thing to write, and we may gloss over it as ‘Yeah, I know that.” But do we really believe Jesus is the Promise Keeper? I mean, does your heart, soul, and mind, truly believe Jesus is the Promise Keeper?
If you’ve been following me in the last year, you know I’ve become a huge fan of Revelation Wellness, a faith-based training for your body, mind, and soul. Here’s some truth I’m finally willing to admit to you. This winter took a toll on me, and I have not been faithful in my commitment to myself or to God, to take care of the body He gave me to take care of for Him.
Sadly, I succumbed to the winter blahs, sat around most evenings, and watched TV. I ate whatever I wanted and even drank plenty of red wine. Unfortunately, my body paid the price. Sorrowfully, part of my wellness work in 2021 was undone in just three months. Ugh!
Now, up 12 pounds, stiff, inflexible, and struggling with some pain again, I want you to know, I understand how easy it is to revert back to old ways when we enter a winter season. While nutrition and fitness have been part of my life since I was a teenager, I’ve also had seasons I did not do justice to my body. These particular seasons not only negatively impacted my physical fitness, but also my heart, soul, and mind fitness.
But this is about to change. Let me tell you what happened this past week.
Five Days. Five Times.
My son is now my personal chiropractor. I’ve come to trust him as my doctor. He helped me make progress in 2021. One week ago, as he adjusted me, he said five words to me that Jesus used to motivate me into action. “You need to stretch more.”
I’m tired of being inflexible and in pain. So, I searched for a Revelation Wellness workout that would include some stretching and strengthening of my body, and target flexibility. I found one that Alisa Keeton, founder of Revelation Wellness, led: Alisa’s Rev on the Mat with Weights “Promise Keeper.”
Little did I know that Jesus would use this particular workout to stretch, flex, and strengthen me in more ways than one.
For five days the Lord instructed me do this same workout. Five times, friend! Every single day, I moved and heard the same message: Jesus is the Promise Keeper.
This became Jesus’ first fitness lesson for me as I took up my winter blah truth and sought Him out.
Every day I heard and claimed God’s Word. The same word over and over:
“No unbelief made him [Abraham] waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God.” Romans 4:20 (ESV)
Yahweh, You Keep Your Promises!
Every day as I worked out on my mat with Alisa, she encouraged us to say out loud these words: “He is a Promise Keeper,” or “He keeps his promises.” Or she’d have us repeat Romans 4:20. I found myself putting my name in this verse. No unbelief makes Michelle waver concerning the promises of God, but I grow stronger in my faith as I give glory to God.
Every day for five days I also saw a framed piece of wall art I purchased last year for a bedroom that never got hung in that bedroom. It’s been leaning against a wall in our family room recently. This is my wall art below.
I’ve often said I don’t believe in coincidences because I don’t. The chances that this particular wall art would be in my vision during this particular week is not a coincidence. It’s been moved many times in the last year. But it found its way to our family room recently, which is right next to our home gym. Do you think Jesus has a message to share? I sure do.
Yahweh, You keep Your promises. Yahweh is the name for the God of the Israelites, and Yahweh is God Himself. Jesus wants us to know He keeps His promises.
Reclaim Your Belief
Do you question if Jesus keeps His promises to you? Unfortunately, I have at times, but this week, Jesus reminded me every day He means it when He promises.
Now I’m reminding you. Jesus is the Promise Keeper. He keeps all His promises. Let me just add, in the Bible there are thousands of promises God has made. Only Jesus can be faithful to keep thousands of promises.
“The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.” Psalm 145:13b (NIV)
May we never waver in our belief concerning the promises of Jesus. But rather, may we grab hold of Him and trust He will fulfill His promises to us in His perfect timing.
This past week the best thing happened to me. I reclaimed my fitness and my God spoke to me. Jesus is the Promise Keeper. I do not need to worry if He will or won’t keep His promises. He will.
Daily Challenge
This week will you do as I’ve done? Say out loud every day and claim:
- Jesus keeps His promises.
- Yahweh, You keep Your promises.
- No unbelief makes me (or put your name here) waver concerning the promises of God, but I grow stronger in my faith as I give glory to God.
Jesus is the Promise Keeper.
