Inspired by Dr. Lee Warren, I’m trying something new in November. I’m going to do something new every day this month. One of those things is write.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I haven’t written much in the last two years. Living life, just daily living, took over: working, cleaning, paying bills, spending time with family and friends, sleeping. You know, you live life too.
Confession
During this time, my passion for writing started slipping away. I wanted to sleep more than write. And while I needed to increase my sleep for my health, when I started focusing on my health, which is a good thing, I also started losing interest in writing. I just felt like I didn’t have anything new to share. Or at least nothing that you couldn’t read and hear from hundreds of other writers. So, I stopped.
Admitting this is hard. But then confession usually is difficult. And yet, God tells us to confess our sins to each other and pray for each other so that we may be healed (James 5:16).
And healing is what I want, in so many ways. I think most of us want to be healed from something, whether that’s physical, mental, emotional, relational, financial, or several other “als.”
Is my not writing something that needs to be confessed? I think so. Confession may seem extreme, but God also instructs us in the book of James, “If anyone knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is a sin for them” (James 4:17). God has given me an assignment. I have not been doing it. He’s also given me a calling, and I have set it aside. I had good reasons, and not just sleep. But the time has come to pick up my pen (or computer) and start writing again.
News Flash!
I don’t have a plan…yet! I just know that God wants me writing daily again in the morning, and then He wants me to be sharing what I wrote with you. I won’t promise what time of day I will share. But I will write, and I will share. I don’t even know if it will always be on my blog or if some of what I write will land on Facebook or Instagram. I’m letting God lead me this November.
The purpose of today’s writing is to tell you, I’m writing again, and it will be something new.
November New will be a challenge for me because I’m not used to getting up early anymore. I’ve allowed myself to sleep in on weekends, and during the week, even though I work full time, I work from home. I don’t have to get up as early as I used to have to get up. And I’ve taken advantage of that opportunity.
November New Challenge
The November New Challenge is going to require some sacrifice for me, and it may take me the entire month to adjust to this new writing schedule. Bear with me, please, and for those of you who are physically around me, I’ll try not to be a bear! We know I’m not a morning person.
I’m sure I’ll be sharing about other new things I’m doing for my November New Challenge. Honestly, I don’t even know what all that will be yet. Again, I’m just letting God lead me. But I anticipate something new every day because I’m going to be pursuing new.
If you want to join me, please do. Just do something new every day in November. If you want to share with me, I’d love to hear about all the new things my friends are doing this month.
Blessing
That said, I think I’ll close this first writing now. But before I do, I want to bless you.
May God bless you with a wonderful first day of November. May He fill you with the anticipation of something new today. May you receive a heart full of joy, love, and peace. Blessed are you because God loves you.

Welcome back! Praying you find endless joy in your writing again. Everything has a season, seasons change, and so do we. It’s good that you’ve been caring for yourself. That is most important. Looking forward to your writings again! Love you!
Thanks Laurie! You’re right. There’s a season for everything under the sun. Here’s to continued health and lots more seasons of writing!
with joy,
Michelle 🙂
Looking forward to your daily good news…no matter what time it comes in!
Thanks Teena!
So far, the time is proving to be different every day. LOL!
When I write like this, waking up every day not knowing what the Lord wants me to write about or when, well, the time is up to Him.
Here’s to hoping November New Challenge is encouraging!
with joy,
Michelle
Hi Michelle! So good to hear from you again! I’m nodding in agreement as I read what you shared. Even if I just journal and don’t share at all, I’d like to get back to writing again too… Hugs and blessings to you!
Hi Pearl! It’s so good to hear from you too! Journaling counts as writing. I journal almost daily, but most of that is only for me and God. Like you, I don’t share much of what ny journals contain because, well, they are filled with a lot of mess! But journaling still counts as writing, so keep on journaling!
with joy,
Michelle 🙂
