Do you dance with gratitude before the Lord? Did you know dancing with gratitude is an option? Find out what I did today on Day 3 of November New Challenge.
Last night I had coffee with a friend. As we were in line ordering, the manager (a woman) approached us and greeted us. Then she came around to my left side, leaned in, and said, “No dancing on the tables!” 🙂
My friend asked me if I knew the woman. I answered, “Nope! I guess I just look like someone who would dance on tables!” And we laughed.
This morning as I was writing in my journal, I thought, Why not? Why not dance on tables and praise Jesus?
Dancing with Gratitude
So, I did! You read that right. I found my “Dancing Praise Songs” playlist on my phone, moved some things off our coffee table, climbed up on that table, turned the music on loud, and started dancing!
I started with a little happy dance, then moved on to a bit of jive dance, and then started crying with gratitude because Jesus found me, and I found Him. And my heart swelled with gratitude because He saved me.
I didn’t expect the flowing tears, but those tears released praise to my Lord. And He deserves my praise and my gratitude.
After shedding tears of gratitude and praise (and some pouring out my soul to Jesus), I wiped my face and decided I’d write to tell you about my Day 3 November New Challenge.
Don’t Hold Back. Try Something New!
Sometimes I think we hold ourselves back from trying something new because we think as Christians, we are supposed to be more refined and proper and not have fun.
Did you know King David danced, rejoiced, and celebrated? In fact, “David and all Israel were celebrating with all their might before the Lord, with castanets [percussion instruments], harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums [instruments similar to rattles], and cymbals.” 2 Samuel 6:5, NIV
Later as they entered Jerusalem, King David leading the way, we’re told that “David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.” 2 Samuel 6:13-15, NIV
If King David and his crew can dance and shout with all their might with grateful hearts, we can too. Afterall, we serve the same Lord.
When was the last time you danced and praised Jesus? Have you ever danced and praised Jesus at the same time? If it’s been a while or you’ve never danced before the Lord, today is good day to try something new.
Dare to Dance Today
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4, NIV
You don’t have to dance on a table like I did today, but I encourage you to dance with gratitude today.
If you don’t feel comfortable dancing in front of anyone, go to a private room, close the door, turn on some upbeat praise music, and start dancing and praising Jesus. You too may be surprised by the reaction your body has as you dance with gratitude.
Who knows, maybe today there will be a dance party for Jesus! I think He’d like that.
Blessing
May you dance with gratitude praising Jesus today. May God fill your heart to overflowing with His joy. May His love consume your heart with hope. May you enter His gates today with dancing and thanksgiving.

Tried it. You wanted a new coffee table, right?

Bob,
You did make me laugh out loud when I read this comment. I kind of expected to see a pile of wood where the coffee table stands when I came home yesterday. HaHa! Now, the question remains, did you actually dance on the coffee table? Hmm?
your wife,
Michelle 🙂
