It’s 11:00 p.m. on Day 4 of the November New Challenge, and I’m just sitting down to write. My advice don’t give up even in the 11th hour.
As I relaxed watching TV just a few minutes ago, I had decided I was not going to write today. It’s late, I’m tired, and nothing new seemed to happen today until it did. Don’t give up even in the 11th hour.
Pull Ups are Hard to Do
Do you know it’s just as hard for me to pull myself up off the couch from relaxing after a long, busy day as it is to pull myself up out of bed early in the morning? I was comfy on the couch. Snug as bug, just watching a program I enjoy, getting my body ready to sleep.
So, I was ready to just not do my challenge, already on Day 4. I thought, What’s the big deal? It’s just one day.But I felt guilty I had not written anything today.
And then I remembered what Dr. Lee Warren says, “Are you ready to change your life? There’s only one rule, you have to change your mind first.”
So, my new thing today is I changed my mind in the 11th hour. I paused the TV program, pulled myself up, went to my computer, and started writing.
Press On
Paul’s words of wisdom come to my mind just now, which seems so fitting:
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14, NIV
I’m pressing on. You can too. Whatever goal(s) you are wanting to achieve, press on. If you are ready to change your life, you have to change your mind first. Goals don’t reach themselves. We need to make them happen.
Don’t give up even in the 11th hour. Just change your mind to press on, keep going, until the very end.
We may want to give up. We may try to convince ourselves, like I did just a few minutes ago, it’s no big deal. But friend, it is a big deal. We are called to move forward, pressing in to reach the goals that the Lord has called us to do for Him.
Don’t give up even in the 11th hour. It will be worth the effort. Because we just never know who God will bless because we don’t give up.
Blessing
May you reach your goals for God. May you choose to change your mind even in the 11th hour. May today be the day that you press on.

Hi Ruth,
I’m so glad I wrote this blog post. I almost didn’t, but now I know it encouraged you!
Thanks you for letting me know.
with joy,
Michelle 🙂
It is so hard to start new habits, isn’t it?! Good for you to listen to His still, small voice and do it for Him. Good reminder that we have no idea who we might be robbing by omitting to do the good we know we should! (Guilty as charged!) Keep on writing, sister!
Pearl, I agree. Forming new habits takes commitment and consistency. Both of which I’m practicing right now. The data out there on how long it takes to form a new habit is not conclusive. Personally, I think each person charts their own way on this. For some it may take 30 days, others 60 days, still others a year. But the key is staying committed and consistent. And there are different seasons in our life where what we are called to do may be different. You are gaining life experiences and when the writing season comes around for you again, you’ll have lots to share!
Keep looking up and listening to His voice.
Michelle 🙂
