Imagine how your brain and soul will react if you feed them God’s joy today? It’s real remedy for sadness and sorrow. Keep reading if you desire some joy today.
Most days in the last few months, I’ve woken to sadness greeting me, and sorrow greets me second. Today, was no different. Is this hard to believe coming from someone who promotes positivity and joy?
The truth is, sometimes we go through seasons of sadness and sorrow, but that does not have to define how we choose to live our day or what we choose to think about all day long.
This morning I laid it all out before the Lord again. I searched God’s Word for encouragement, I prayed. I waited. I let things simmer down. I even did some mundane things, like shower, make breakfast and eat it. I did the dishes, put away some clean clothes, texted a couple of people. But still sadness and sorrow lingered.
Then I came back into my writing room, opened my computer, prayed again, and listened for God’s message to me. He reminded me that I’ve written a lot over the years about joy and sorrow. So, I searched my blog posts and came across one I wrote back in March 2017 during another challenge.
Day 11: Refrain from Sorrow, Embrace Joy
As I read this blog post, I could feel sadness and sorrow begin to leave me. Joy jumped into my brain and soul. I read that neuroscientists have discovered that even imagining laughter, not actually laughing, but imagining laughter reduces sadness. And I got to thinking can you imagine how your brain and soul will react if you feed them God’s joy? A personal challenge for myself today.
Imagine How Your Brain and Soul Will React If You Feed Them God’s Joy?
So, I tried it. I imagined the joy I’ll have today as I spend time shopping with my youngest daughter and later celebrating my oldest grandson’s birthday. I imagined the Christmas lights twinkling as my neighbor sets up their Christmas light show. I imagined how happy I will be when my pants aren’t tight (haha!). A little insight into my life from the past few months, I’ve gained some unwanted weight. Still, I imagined the joy I’ll experience when I invest in losing this weight and my clothes fit less snug.
I also practiced what I encouraged in that blog post: I read all the Bible verses I listed on joy.
So, today, will you join me? Imagine how your brain and soul will react if you feed them God’s joy today?
Let’s practice together November New Challenge!
