Yesterday I shared how people were overwhelmed with amazement by Jesus. Today, I’m back in the same story. In the very same verse I noticed something else. Not only were the people astonished by Jesus, but they also proclaimed, “He has done everything well!” Now this is a huge proclamation.
You don’t have to read too far into the Gospels to begin noticing the things Jesus does. He eats with the despised. He touches the untouchable (think leprosy). He feeds the hungry (like thousands of people with just a couple of fish and a couple of loaves of bread). He talks to those He’s not supposed to talk to (at least according to the people). He calms an actual storm. He turns water into wine. And “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
He “even.” Did you know the word “even” is used to indicate something unexpected? I don’t think the people expected Jesus to do all that He was doing, but they were completely blown away that He even healed the deaf and helped the mute speak.
They were so overwhelmed with amazement by Jesus, they just had to tell others. They just had to proclaim “He has done everything well!”
When was the last time you proclaimed Jesus does everything well? When was the last time He did something well for you or for someone else and you just had to go tell someone?
I urge you, friends, share the good news of Jesus. He still does everything well. Look for it. Tell someone about it. Let’s be overwhelmed with amazement by Jesus. He really does everything well!
Scripture:
Mark 7:37 – People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
