Good Morning, Friends! Today’s inspiration is very simple. I was preparing to write something else today (which I’ve set aside for now), and I was searching for an image when I saw this one you see below. When this image popped up, my eyes were fixed on it. I actually said to myself, “Oooo, I like this picture.” Then I just looked at it for a couple of minutes, admiring it, and I wondered how I could use it someday. So I downloaded it for future use. Then I continued to write what I thought God wanted me to share today, but this image kept coming into my mind. So I stopped writing, took a shower, prayed in the shower and asked God, “What do YOU want me to share today?”
God wants us to feast our eyes on Him today.
According to Collins Dictionary, when we feast our eyes on something, we look at it for a long time with great attention because we find it attractive.
While I find this image attractive and I admired it this morning (and still do), I am more attracted to God. I admire Him. I feast my eyes on Him every morning and continue throughout the day as I often find myself being reminded of Him and all His glory and beauty.
Sometimes God reveals His beauty through the simplest thing, like a dandelion in the sunrise or a “cheesy smile” from my grandson or the kind touch of my husband’s hug.
While these remind me of God’s beauty and I’m grateful for all these reminders, I know God wants me to stop what I’m doing, feast my eyes on Him alone Every. Single. Day.
Friends, today as we look at things we find attractive, I pray the Lord will remind us each in those moments to remember Him too, the Maker of all things beautiful. I pray we will stop admiring the beautiful “thing” long enough to admire the “One.”
Let’s have a Friday Feast!
Scripture:
Job 19:27 – I will see Him myself; my eyes will look at Him, and not as a stranger, my heart longs within me.
