Good Morning My Friends! What a glorious day it is. This is the day the Lord has made, and we get to live intentionally today trusting Him. What a glorious and joyful day this will be. Let’s see how we are going to live today by embracing trust.
Let the Trusting Begin!
If you’re like me, human, you have worried, at least once in your life. Am I right?
When we worry, we’re allowing ourselves to dwell on difficulty or troubles. Worry means that you’re distressed or anxious about something.
When we worry, manifestations occur. We become downcast, meaning sad, depressed, discouraged, and unhappy. We can have stomachaches and headaches. Our faces actually look disturbed. Have you noticed someone with a scrunched face walking around? You can know just by their facial expression that they are worrying.
When we believe in Jesus, we put our trust in Him. We have faith in Him.
To trust means you believe, have faith in, you can depend on, confide in, count on and be sure about.
Trusting is the foundation of our relationship with Jesus.
As believers in Jesus, when we worry, we’re actually not trusting Him.
We’re doubting God can help us.
How do we not worry, but trust?
First of all we need to:
- Lean not on your own understanding
- Acknowledge God
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV).
Second, we need to:
- Cast our worry
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7, NIV).
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken” (Psalm 55:22, NIV).
We need cast that thing that’s disturbing us to God.
Have you ever thrown a ball? That’s what God wants us to do with all those things that cause us distress. Throw, toss, pitch, fling, and hurl them all to God.
Do you know what God does then?
He sustains you. That means Jesus supports, helps, assists, aids, holds you up, and keeps you going!
When we trust God, we experience calmness and peace. In every way we’ll experience peace: mentally, relationally, and physically.
Trusting lets us feel safe.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him” (Psalm 28:7, NIV).
When we trust God, we have confidence He will assist us, help us, and give us strength. Then we will be filled with joy.
You know a joyful person when you see one. They walk upright. They smile. They laugh.
Practical Application
Here’s what I want us to do today:
Whatever is concerning to you, toss it to God just for today. Leave it with Him all day.
You may have to visualize yourself actually throwing it to God. Watch Him catch it and keep it. Then you walk away and leave it with God.
I’ve done this many times in my life. It’s pretty cool to actually leave my trouble with God.
Sometimes, I’ve visualized I have a big backpack on my back, and it’s filled with all the things making me concerned, things causing me distressed.
I mentally picture myself walking up to Jesus, taking the backpack off my back, placing it at His feet, and walking away, leaving that backpack with Him for the day. He assures me He will take very good care of my backpack while I’m gone for the day. As I walk away I feel lighter, happier, relieved.
So friends, let’s place our worries in God’s hands today. He’s fully capable to taking care of them so that we can all walk around today full of joy, happiness, and peace.
Just for Today
Refrain from Worrying. Embrace Trusting!
